DELTA TECHOPS APP
SCADPRO PROJECT
PROJECT GOAL
In my final quarter at SCAD, I was selected to work on a real-life SCADpro x Delta TechOps collaboration. Our goal was to research and develop concepts for an entertaining mobile game to support training and continuing education for Delta TechOps. The project took place over the course of two SCAD quarters - I participated in the first quarter only. Our deliverables were the following assets for the first quarter:

- Summary of Research Insights
- Game Development Document
- Basic Prototype
- Unreal Engine Levels
- Mini Game Varieties
- Videos of Mechanics
- Style Guide
- Variety of Visual Assets
- Process Book.

GAME CONCEPT
This is the game concept that our team decided to pursue in development:
"As a plane nears landing, it flies through a mysterious entity called the Glitch. The Glitch latches onto the plane and creates a nest within the engine. It feeds off of the plane — consuming plane fuel, electricity, hydraulics and other components — to grow and spawn. If given enough time, the Glitch will take control of the plane once consuming all of the power sources. Eventually, the pilot parks the nest plane at the airport, not knowing the Glitch has nested and produced offspring that are now seeking other planes to feed off of and grow. A new AMT hire, Jeep, is assigned to make his first rounds on the nest plane before it departs for its next flight. He notices a blob in the engine and asks the pilot what it is. The pilot says “Oh, it’s just a puddle of oil.” Jeep “wipes” the blob not realizing that he pushed it further into the engine. The plane takes flight once again, traveling with the Glitch’s nest, and leaving behind offspring at every airport the plane lands in. Later, the pilot desperately calls for help when his airplane is being attacked by pixelated blobs, and the lead mechanic prompts Jeep to help. When Jeep catches sight of the Glitch for the second time, he realizes it’s the same pixelated blob that he saw in the engine of the plane he let take flight. Now, it’s up to the Jeep to fix his mistakes before the Glitch controls all planes and overruns the world. With the help of his mentor, the lead mechanic, and his new ally, the pilot, he must travel to airports around the world to find the nest plane and defeat every Glitch offspring that was left behind."

CHARACTER DESIGN

The final character lineup that we came up with for the Glitch game was the pilot, - a non-playable protagonist- the Jeep, - the main TechOps protagonist and a playable character - and the Senior Mechanic, - a non-playable protagonist.

ENVIRONMENT DESIGN
The Design team worked on the concept design for a tool room, containing computers and lockers. The purpose of this room would be to provide a space for the player to grab their safety gear and equipment before heading out to troubleshoot the problems on the air-craft. Based on further feedback, the tool room was simplified to a big, red locker in the lounge. In addition to this, the team designed other visuals including the “Mission completed” interface.

MOBILE PROTOTYPE

A mobile prototype mockup for the Glitch game was created to give next quarter's game development team a more detailed understanding of the game loop and mini puzzles.
